Heat embossing with embossing folders

Janette is back with a great cardmaking video tutorial to share showing you some top tips for perfect heat embossing with embossing folders. Janette is using the new Spring edition of the All Occasion range of embossing folders, dies and stamps set from Apple Blossom.  She uses the Basket Weave and Roses Folder in this heat embossing tutorial where she makes a pretty Easter card with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides and Cosmic Shimmer for extra sparkle.  The gold shimmer works beautifully against the ‘Dusty Concord’ oxide (aka purple – how do they choose those names!)

How to Heat Emboss with an Embossing Folder

Scoring measurements: Score piece of card cut to 15cm x 22cm at 1cm and 14.5cm.

Step 1:
Ink your embossing folder (female side, no raised edges) with an embossing ink pad. Be careful not to rub your stamp pad on your folder as it might cause wear and tear on your ink pad. Just pat and press your surface.

Step 2:
Run your embossing folder and card (6in x 6in) through your die cutting machine.

Step 3:
Sprinkle gold embossing powder and shake off excess.

Step 4:
Remove excess powder with a dry paint brush. Then heat with a heat tool to melt the powder.

Step 5:
Once it cools, you can trim it and create your card!
