Craftstash Live Recap-Focus on Dry Embossing

Hi Craftstashers! If you missed out on our weekly Facebook Live show, no worries! You can watch the replay here! Or maybe you caught the show live, but you want to know more about everything we used during the on-air demonstration–then this is the post for you!

This week we talked about embossing and we made an EXTRAVAGANZA of it with Craftstash’s new range of 5×7  Creative Texture Embossing Folders!

Embossing is a raised, textured effect on a material like paper or even leather. There are different types of embossing, mainly wet and dry embossing. There’s also heat embossing and embossing paste. It can get very confusing, we know! But what all these types of embossing have in common is that a raised texture is the end result of each.
Dry embossing is achieved when you use an embossing folder and a piece of card stock or other impressionable material and run both through a die-cutting machine. Also another form of dry embossing is embossing with a stencil and embossing stylus. It’s a quick way of adding texture to your projects. And you can add it to almost anything!
During the Facebook Live broadcast we shared how you can emboss paper and different materials for party projects, gifts, tags, and cards–even napkins! It’s so fun to pair different materials with your embossing folders. The textured effects embossing folders can create are quick and will make a real impression (no pun intended)!
Here’s a few things you can emboss besides basic card stock:

-vellum
-acetate
-mirri/foil card
-envelopes
-gift tags
-small gift bags (looks so fancy and a super easy gift giving idea)
-napkins
You can ink with embossing folders as well as heat emboss (Here’s an example of how to heat emboss with your embossing folders). But if you want something easy and impactful for your card or project you can try these options:
-Distressing paper for a shabby chic look with a sanding block or nail file. (Check out this speedy embossed card video to see this effect.)

-Using gilding polish and gilding wax to give a fancy metallic effect
We hope you enjoyed the broadcast! We always have such a great time sharing new products and having a laugh. And again a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Liz Jarman the winner of our £50 Craftstash voucher! We hope you got lots of crafting goodies!
See you next week!
XO,
Claire & Janette
