5 mins with… Ann-marie Vaux

 This month, Louise from CraftStash catches up with our award-winning crafter and CraftStash stalwart, Ann-marie Vaux.

When did you start crafting?

Ever since I can remember, I've always been arty and felt the need to use my hands to be crafty. With cardmaking and scrapbooking, it started around 20 years ago, when scrapbooking was big in the US.

When did you decide to create how-to videos?

After a redundancy and taking on a couple of jobs, I was really looking for something design-related: it’s all I wanted to do. So in the midst of all that, I thought you know what, I'm going to start doing some videos! I like coming up with new concepts and designing new things and finding unique things that people can make easily.

How do people respond to your videos?

The videos I make give great feedback from other crafters which I love - and the exposure, too. I have a very loyal following! That's what social media is fantastic for – interacting with other crafters. Winning the award means I must be doing something right!

How did you feel when you won a Top 100 Crafting Blog award?

I was so shocked, I thought what, is this some sort of spam email? Ha ha. Then I thought WOW! Obviously people enjoy what I do and my blog and my projects are easy to watch and understand. Perhaps that's why I got in the Top 100?

What’s your favourite brand?

My favourite brand has to be Anna Griffin. I love the feel of everything, the quality and versatility.

What techniques are you loving at the moment?

I have always loved paperfolding and I am still totally in love with it. Flower making is a favourite of mine but at the moment I am enjoying watercolouring my stamping.

What craft projects are you currently working on?

I am currently working on my weekly projects as well as thinking up new ideas and designs to bring more inspiration to my viewers!
