How to fix common embossing folder mistakes...

1. Torn Paper Troubles: Has your embossing folder left your paper torn up? This can happen due to excessive pressure from your die-cutting machine or due to how delicate your chosen paper is. Fear not! Here are two simple solutions to the rescue:
Solution 1: The Water Spritz Trick: Give your paper a quick spritz with clean water using a fine mist spray bottle. This softens the paper fibers, making them more pliable for the embossing process. Keep in mind, though, that this method may not work for all paper types, especially those coated in plastic or ink-sensitive ones.
Solution 2: The Shim Technique: Introduce a thin piece of paper (scrap printer paper works) between your main paper and the embossing folder. This acts as a buffer, preventing your paper from getting too deeply into the crevices and tearing. This method is a go-to, especially if you're dealing with delicate Vellum.

2. Perfect Pressure: Different embossing folders and die-cutting machines can throw off your pressure game. Don't worry, adjusting the pressure is easier than it sounds!
Solution: The Shim Shuffle: Experiment with layering thinner items like rubber mats, cardstock, or even a combination of both to adjust the pressure in your die-cutting machine. The goal is to find the sweet spot where your embossing folder can do its magic without damaging your paper.
Now you know how to fix some common embossing folder mistakes! Whether you're working with intricate designs, heavy-duty cardstock, or delicate materials like Vellum, these tips will ensure your embossing projects come out perfect. So, go ahead and craft with confidence!
