embossing technique with ink and gilding wax
Embossed background with ink and gilding wax to bring out the texture

Sam Calcott of  @MixedUpCraft  is here to demonstrate a beautiful embossing technique using ink and gilding wax to create beautiful dimension and texture to this pretty Christmas card. Sam is using the new collection from Creative Craft Products - Christmas Embossing Folder Collectables which create subtle festive backdrops on your cards.

  1. Embossing: Cut a 5x7 piece of blue cardstock and place it in the embossing folder, then pass it through your machine.
  2. Trimming: Trim the frame off the embossed cardstock to create a border.
  3. Inking: Use Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire, and Prized Ribbon inks to add colour to the cardstock, starting with the darkest colour around the edges and blending towards the centre with the lighter colours.
  4. Gilding Wax: Apply silver gilding wax to the raised snowflakes in the darker blue areas of the cardstock to make the embossing really pop.
  5. Finishing Touches: Attach the finished piece to a 5x7 card blank. Sam has added a sentiment from the new Christmas set of sentiments by Creative Craft Products (coming soon) and decorated with little white snowflakes and silver mirrored card.
