We are pleased to introduce you to our new Design team member, Sandi Nagel. CraftStash did an amazing competition where three lucky people were chosen to become part of our Design team, Sandi, Sasha and Pauline were the very well-deserved winners. If you've ever come across Decor8yourlife you'll be familiar with Sandi's incredible paper-craft creations and inspiring YouTube videos. We chatted to her about her foray in crafting and her signature style. Hi Sandi! We're thrilled that you've joined the Craft Stash team, how does it feel?  I’m so excited about being a Design team member at CraftStash! For the past several months, I’ve been watching different craft YouTube shows from the UK and I thought… wouldn’t it be fun to be a part of the Craft Stash team? Nah (I thought) it’ll never happen! LOL But here I am! Tell us, how did start your creative blog, Decor8yourlife? My background is in Web Development but my passion lies in paper-crafting and interior design. Some ten years ago, the IT company that I worked for uprooted it’s home base to a different state; and so went my position. I then decided that I would take some time off from the corporate world and focus on my family. However, as a self-proclaimed workaholic, I found it difficult to be a stay-at-home mom and let’s face it, you can only redecorate your home so many times! So I made the decision to purchase my very own URL (decor8yourlife.com); and look into this thing called YouTube so that I could at least keep in tune with popular marketing platforms and different methods of website integration. Decor8yourlife was just to be a sandbox environment for me to learn, make mistakes and learn some more. But little did I think.... fast forward ten years that I'd find myself in this wonderful, spectacular journey of paper crafting, blogging and social media! You post a range of video tutorials on your YouTube channel, what sparked your interest in video creation?  Once I had my domain set-up,  I had opened my YouTube channel and began doing decorating videos. They really weren’t much to look at. I was learning this YouTube thing at the time, and my intentions were just to do as much research as I could on digital marketing platforms. That was it. Nothing else.  I remember one afternoon, I was watching decorating videos and somehow the YouTube algorithms kicked in and I saw my very first mini album video! Boy oh boy was I intrigued! Then I kept watching and watching. I must’ve been stuck to my TV for an entire afternoon! I knew then that I wanted to try making this thing called a mini album and the rest is (as they say) history! I really don’t have much of a crafting background. In fact, I never tried crafting before YouTube. But what I saw for the first time, a mini album by My Sister Scrapper, was enough to get me hooked. So as with everything else that I do, I learned and learned. I love every single one of my projects, but as we evolve and improve our skills they seem to get better and better. A project that I am the most proud of at the moment is a mini album that I made using the Heartfelt Creations 3D Mini Album base. I just love the way it came out! Your projects have so many interesting layers, can you tell us a bit about your style? The type of art that I enjoy the most is that of the era of King Louis XIV of France. I love the whole fancy/pretentious side of it! Some of my favourite brands are Heartfelt Creations (both papers and die-sets), Amazing Paper Grace and Card Making Magic. I also enjoy paper brands such as Mintay, Prima, Graphic 45 and Stamperia to name a few. I tend to do more paper crafting projects that reflect my taste for decor and furnishings from the Louis XIV era, so those are the brands that I tend to work with the most.   Finally, can you share three interesting facts about yourself with us?
  1. I’m a total and complete computer geek! I taught myself HTML and CSS because I wanted to learn a new language. I see everything in patterns, which helps me give my clients a leg up on granular search terms; and it also helps me see in my mind how a card or mini album should look, before I begin my project.
  2. I LOVE to listen to podcasts while I’m crafting. I find that these clear my mind, and they’re more like “white noise” while I figure things out in my head.
  3. I would most like to visit the United Kingdom and Ireland. I love everything spooky and haunted; and I get a kick out of visiting the “most haunted” places on earth. My ideal way to spend the weekend would be traveling with my family. I love road trips, especially the ones that involve back roads and stops at off the way places.
