Step-by-Step Valentine’s Gift Box in 3 Minutes

While pricey flowers and chocolates are certainly appreciated on February 14th, a thoughtful and personalised make will show your loved ones just how much you care about them. Also, nothing says “I love you” better than a handmade Valentine’s Day card or gift.

You can also send this cute gift box to your friends and family members which will surely warm their hearts and bring a smile to their faces. If you’re looking to get your kids involved with crafting, this project is super easy and they will love making it too!

Whether you’re a veteran papercrafter or have just started, this project is suitable for everyone. No die-cutting machine is required, but if you have one, it will save you time!

You’ll need:

Brush Markers. Whether water or alcohol-based, we have a great variety available at CraftStash from brands such as Tombow, Spectrum Noir, STAEDTLER, Sentimentally Yours, Copic, and more! Feel free to choose your favourite pen set and colours.

300gsm Cardstock in white. You can use a coloured card instead, let your imagination run wild!

Double-sided Tape. You can use a tape runner as well, but do not use foam tape!

Free template. Or you could create your own one if you are looking for a different size or style.

Scissors. If you have a die-cutting machine, just take a square-shaped die (5cm x 5cm).

Patterned Paper Pads. We have a huge range of paper pads from elegant to extravagant at CraftStash. Choose the papers you like the most for that special and lucky person who will receive this cute surprise box.

300gsm Cardstock – 21cm x 21cm

Each side of the cube – 5cm x 5cm

We have also done a 3-minute video tutorial that will help you create this lovely project! You will find it at the bottom of this article.

1. Print the FREE Gift Box template (or create your own). Fold the corners until you form the cube.

2. Colour the hearts with your favourite marker pens. We used red, but you can choose any colour you like! Then, pick your favourite paper pads and cut 8 squares of 5cm x 5cm each (4 for the outside and 4 for the inside of the box). You can use the same patterned paper or different designs. Then, stick them to the side of the cube with double-sided tape.

4. Finally, cut the two hearts up to the centre. Start from the bottom with one of your hearts and from the top with the other heart. Stick them on the top with double-sided tape, so you can keep the box locked.

5. Put a little treat or a message to surprise your loved one!
