Learn how to create this WOW-factor braided edge card

Level up your cards with this easy but super effective braided edge card technique! The Free template and video tutorial for this Braided Edge Cardmaking technique can be found at the end of this post.

Follow this tutorial to create a braided edge card:

Starting with a folded card base, attach your template guide with repositionable glue. The template consists of printed strips which are placed against the spine of the card, with lines facing towards the outer edge.

Using scissors, cut along each line through the card base to the end. Once all the lines are cut into the side of the card, remove the template and begin the folding process. Starting with the second cut line, alternate folding each line down throughout the card spine.

When you reach the point where folding the base line down would leave nothing to finish it off with, use a little wet glue to adhere the tip of this arrow to the base of the card. For the rest of the lines, take each one and tuck it under the little point that's below it, essentially braiding the triangles or arrows into each other.

A braided edge can upgrade a card from boring to brilliant!

After the glue has dried, fold back the braided edges in the reverse direction of the previous folds. Gently squeeze each fold to secure it. For a neater look, trim off the bottom piece where the glue is applied to hold the pieces down.

Then you're free to decorate your card with any stamps or die-cut pieces you please! Lou has used the sentiment, "there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy", and arranged die-cut pieces from the Floral Script Collection around the sentiment.

To finish off the card, Lou has added enamel dots from Altenew in a gorgeous green shade to match the foliage in the die-cuts. The completed card, with its unique braided edge, looks fabulous from both the outside and the inside! It's a simple yet beautiful card that can be customised with different sentiments and decorations for any occasion.
