How to make this shaker card + FREE SVG
This SVG file is available for free! You can use it for wedding cards, invitations, thank-you notes, RSVPs, and even stylish table decor!
Today, we'll show you how to craft this elegant shaker card!
Materials You'll Need:
- Champagne glass SVG file
- Cutting machine (e.g., Brother Scan and Cut, Cricut, or Silhouette)
- Glitter cardstock
- Foam tape
- Acetate
- Sequins
Step 1: Preparing the Card Base
First, open your champagne glass SVG file in your cutting machine's software. Place the champagne glass on your virtual artboard and add a rectangle around it, measuring approximately four by seven inches. This rectangle will serve as the card base. Additionally, insert a score line down the center of the rectangle. This will allow you to fold the card neatly later.
Step 2: Cutting the Card Base
Cut the card base from a sturdy cardstock, preferably around 300-350 GSM, using your cutting machine. Be sure to follow the score line to ensure a clean fold. This will create the foundation for your card.
Step 3: Creating the Shaker Element
Now, let's focus on the shaker element of the card. You'll need glitter cardstock, foam tape, acetate, and sequins for this part.
- Cut a piece of glitter cardstock to fit behind the champagne glass cutout.
- Cut a piece of acetate that covers the aperture of the champagne glass, leaving a small border.
- Apply a layer of foam tape around the inner edges of the card base, making sure there are no gaps.
- Before removing the backing paper from the foam tape, use an anti-static bag to reduce static inside the acetate area. This will prevent sequins from sticking to the sides.
Step 4: Assembling the Shaker Card
- Carefully place sequins inside the champagne glass area, making sure they stay within the glass shape.
- Once you're satisfied with the amount of sequins, remove the backing paper from the foam tape on the card base.
- Press the glitter cardstock onto the foam tape, sealing the sequins inside the champagne glass.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Your shaker card is almost complete! All that's left is to add any decorative elements you want! Lou leaves the card as it is for a contemporary feel but you could consider stamping a sentiment or embellishing the card to match your theme!
And there you have it—a beautiful and fun shaker card! Cheers!
