What are the Key benefits compared to using a regular iron?

A standard home iron is actually on hot in the middle and so it doesn't provide an even temperature as you press. The steam holes in an iron also create issues when pressing and can add to an uneven finish. Even if it looks like it has adhered well you may find after a few washes the material lifts due to those weak points caused by the uneven pressure.
With an iron you are also guessing at the temperature, where your EasyPress has precise heat settings for the exact materials you are using. Cricut has a really useful Heat Guide for all the different fabrics and materials to use with their EasyPress range.

  • Advanced heat plate design with ceramic-coated surface

How do I tell the difference between Iron On Vinyl and standard adhesive vinyl once I have opened the packet!

It's actually really easy, Iron on vinyl is heat activated so when you peel off the clear protective layer it's not sticky! Only when you apply the heat does the adhesive become activated. Standard vinyl has adhesive on the back so will feel sticky, make sure you don't use this kind with your EasyPress.
