How to Create a Rose Design Bookmark with a Cricut Machine and Holographic Vinyl

Step 2: Cut the Holographic Vinyl and Cardstock

Choose the holographic vinyl colour(s) that complement your rose design. Load the vinyl into the Cricut machine and set the machine's settings according to the manufacturer's instructions, we used the Holographic Vinyl setting. Cut the rose design from the vinyl.

Step 3: Weed and Apply Transfer Tape

Using a weeding tool, carefully remove the excess vinyl from the backing sheet, leaving only the rose design. Cut a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than your design and place it over the vinyl, smoothing it down to adhere the vinyl to the transfer tape.

Step 4: Apply the Vinyl to the Acrylic Bookmark

Position the transfer tape with the vinyl rose design onto the bookmark, ensuring it is centred and aligned properly. Use a scraper or your fingers to press down firmly, allowing the vinyl to adhere securely to the cardstock. Gently peel off the transfer tape, leaving the rose design on the bookmark.

Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches

Thread a ribbon or twine through the hole and tie a knot or bow to create a decorative tassel.
