FAUX VELLUM EFFECT Stamping Technique

Hello, crafters! We are absolutely thrilled to share this new project using a stamping technique with faux vellum effect. We will use a digital stamp from Two Red Robins found in the Creative Stamping Magazine #128. So, let's dive in and get creative! You can download all of the stamps for free at the end of this post!

Materials Needed:

Creative Stamping Issue #128 (for Two Red Robins digital stamp)
Copy paper
Blending mat
Clear embossing ink
Embossing powder (clear)
Heat tool
Card base
Ink pads for background colour
Foam tape
White glue
Gems
Sentiment stamp
Black marker

Step 1: Choose Your Digital Stamp

Start by selecting a digital stamp were using these free stamps from Two Red Robins (download them at the end of the post) Download and print it onto copy paper.
Carefully cut out the printed image to prepare it for the faux Vellum technique.

Step 2: Apply Clear Embossing Ink

Place a blending mat underneath your image and cover it with clear embossing ink. Ensure the entire image is saturated. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the inked image. This not only creates a faux Vellum look but also strengthens the paper for attachment to your card.

Step 3: Heat Set the Powder

Use a heat tool to set the embossing powder. Lift the image in the air while heating to prevent the underside from remelting. Let it cool and dry. For an enhanced Vellum effect, repeat the clear embossing ink and powder application on the back of the image. Heat set and let it cool completely.

Step 4: Ink Blend Background

Choose an ink pad for your background colour and blend a patch behind the flowers, adding a subtle touch visible through the transparent faux Vellum. Create a bright white frame around the flowers to emphasize the transparency. This also makes it easier to raise the faux Vellum with foam tape.

Step 5: Adhere to Card Base

Use wet glue on the edges of the frame to adhere the faux Vellum to the flowers. This allows for easy attachment and raising with foam tape. Add gems for extra sparkle, a sentiment to convey your message, and draw a thin black line around the edge for a hand-drawn look.
